Happy Monday! Today, I have had console tables on the mind, so I decided to put together a few of my favorite tips and tricks to style a console table and create a beautiful entry area for your home! Here goes:
- Start by picking out your rug. Depending on the amount of space you have, you will need to decide between a standard rug (5×7,8×10, 9×12, etc.) or a runner. This is the first piece you should position, as it is NOT fun to add the rug after you have styled your beautiful console table.
- Pick out your console table. There are a TON of different options out there, so find something that fits the look and aesthetic of your home. I am a big fan of adding storage baskets and/or ottomans under a console table to create a layered look, so I tend to keep an eye out for tables that have plenty of space underneath to house these sorts of things! 🙂
- Choose a statement piece to fill the wall space behind your console. This can be a gorgeous piece of artwork or a mirror or even a set of coordinating prints. I especially love mirrors in foyers for the reflection of light–keeping things light and bright when you first walk in the door is a MUST!
- Anchor your console table with height at one or both ends. You could use a pair of table lamps or a lamp paired with a vase(s) with a similar height.
- Start layering in the accessories! Some fail-proof console table accessories include:
- Candles
- Books!!
- Decorative spheres
- Small boxes
- Sculptures
- Bring in something green! I am a BIG BIG fan of plants in spaces. There’s something about that refreshing touch of green that just warms my soul and puts a smile on my face. While live plants are always my first choice, if you have a black thumb, there are some really great faux options out there. I personally have a mix of live and faux plants in just about every room in the house! **PRO TIP: If you purchase a faux tree such as the one in the design below, take the visual up a notch by placing it in a decorative basket or planter…this one little step makes a big difference in the finished look of your space!**
- Consider the wall space surrounding your console table. I love when there’s something unexpected in a design–it’s like a little mini Christmas morning to my creative senses! If you have a large wall, consider off-setting a fabulous piece of art or even bringing in a few gallery prints to create a mini gallery.
- ENJOY your new and improved entrance…..every time you are feeling stressed, just walk in, take a deep breath, and smile.
